Vliv plemenné příslušnosti masného skotu na sledované životní projevy
Vejslíková, Denisa
The bachelor thesis deals with ethological observations of beef cattle of different breeds. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the field of ethology, its historical origin and the methods used for observation. Information on the history of beef cattle breeding and the characteristics of selected breeds are listed. It also describes the senses of cattle and their basic vital signs. The experimental part focuses on the ethological observations of 3 breeds of beef cattle - Aberdeen angus, Charolais and Limousin. In these cattle, selected vital signs - feed intake, grazing, locomotion, standing, lying, social behaviour, maternal behaviour and comfort behaviour - are observed. Subsequently, this section evaluates the behaviour in graphs. From the result of observation of all breeds, it was observed that during autumn observation, animals were mostly engaged in standing (50 %), followed by feed intake (19 %) and lying down (12 %). During spring observation, animals were mostly engaged in grazing (31 %), lying down (26 %), standing (19 %). Other observed behaviours were represented in units of percentages.

This bachelor thesis contains basic knowledge of the history of ethology, focusing on the distribution of ethology, behavioral research methods, basics of behavioral reseach methology and especially the basics of sheep ethology, their life on the pasture. The aim of this study was to observe natural behavior of sheep. Observations of five sheep conducted in the intervals 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then the values were averaged and inserted into graphs. We investigated these behaviors: food income, the rest, the movement, drinking, rumination in lying down, rumanition in standing up, sexual behavior. It was found that most sheep took food in the morning, from 7 to 10 a.m. then between noon and 5 p.m. except 3 p.m. where either they were ruminated or rested.

The aim of the bachelor thesis was to define the concept of ethology, to describe the methods of ethological observation and the subsequent focus on issues related to the problems of the domestic rabbit. The subject of the practical part was the observation of life manifestations in a selected group of a certain domestic rabbit breed and subsequent evaluation of life manifestations. The first, theoretical part of the thesis is focused on a brief summary of information on the field of ethology, including a chapter devoted to animal welfare. The second, practical part of the bachelor's thesis is focused on the evaluation of life manifestations in a selected group of domestic rabbit. The subject of ethological research was the comparison of daily activities (feeding; watering; rest; standing; dolling; pawing; comfortable behavior and emptying) in free and pen housing; the California Rabbit breed was chosen for this research. In case of comparing the activities that the rabbits preferred, there are slight differences between the chosen type of housing. However, in both cases the most frequent observed activity was rest (pen – 37,80 %, run-out – 39,63 %), feeding (pen – 21,95 %, run-out – 23,78 %) and standing (pen – 12,20 %, run-out – 9,76 %). Other activities were observed at a lower frequency.

Bachelor thesis on the topic “Effect of season regarding the selected vital signs of the sheep” is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. The theoretical part covers a literature review related to the methods, division of ethology and its history, vital signs of the sheep, zootechnical precautions and economy of sheep breeding. The practical part is dedicated to the experiment focused on the sheep vital signs observation. The tested group covered five sheep breed Suffolk; each sheep had the two lambs. The observation took place on the selected farm in Zábřeh on Moravia. The monitored vital signs included food intake, water consumption, chewing, having rest, movement; maternal, sexual, comfort and social behavior. The observation took place during the three consecutive days in every single season throughout the year. The observed vital signs of the sheep were evaluated in the form of an etogram. From the results of the observation is obvious that the sheep pay the most attention to the food intake, the other important activity during the day was the chewing and water consumption. Assuming all the findings leads to a conclusion that these vital signs are the most important for the life of the sheep.
Etologické pozorování skotu v různých věkových kategorií

This bachelor thesis deals with ethological observation of cattle of (in) different age. There are three groups of Czech fleckvieh cattle, dairy cows, pregnant heifers and calves. The aim of the study was get to know and compare behavior of each group. The results were given into an etogram and then processed into charts. Each group was monitored for 8 hours. There was observed lying, standing, rumination, feeding, drinking, defecation and urination, comfortable behavior, social behavior, sexual behavior and moving. Dairy cows spent the most of the time by lying, pregnant heifers by standing and calves spent the most of the time by feeding themselves.

This thesis is concerned with displays of postweaning maternal behaviour of chosen Charolais cows held in non-milking system. The analysis of the cows was done on the farm located in Vysočina region. The herd consisted of 16 cows, 10 of them were observed after weaning. Ethological observation ran for 3 days, first day for 24 hours, second and third day during the time of daylight. Basal behaviour cathegories were registered use of the interval method and the length of interval was 10 minutes. The vocalization was registered permanently. The results of the observation of four basal behavior cathegories were analyzed comparatively.
Etologie ovcí s ohledem na klimatické podmínky
ČEDÍKOVÁ, Kristýna
This bachelor thesis focuses on the ethology of two selected breed of sheep - Grey Horned Heath and Charolais sheep. The main method of this research was ethological observation. The observation took place during 2018 and 2019 on a farm in the village Chlístov. The key observed behaviour of sheep was defined as feeding, standing, lying/resting and moving. Observations were organized during different season of the year (spring, summer, autumn and winter) to demonstrate the effect of the climatic conditions on sheep behaviour. Both herds of sheep were observed at the same time to eliminate and avoid the influence of other various aspects which could influence behaviour, thus the same time observation provided fully comparable data. Results of ethological observation are evaluated by comparative method.
Analýza etologického pozorování vybraných životních projevů telat
Hallová, Tereza
This bachelor theses describes and introduction into general ethology of cattle and special ethology of calves, the meaning of ethology in cattle breeding, ethological research methods, data collection and its assesment. It also describes senses of cattle such as vision, hearing and taste, smell and touch. The theses also explains the technology of breeding different age phases of calves - colostrum phase, milk feeding phase and plant feeding phase - and describes typical natural behavior of calves in each of these phases. The purpose of this theses is to find out how does the calves behavior change during their life as they get older. The observation has been performed in stages in times between 7am and 5pm and 10 calves containing of all age groups have been observed. The results were counted into avarage and visualized by graphs. These behaviors were examined: lying, standing, feeding, starter consumption, walking and other. It is obvious from the results that calves of age 0 to 6 months spend most of their life lying, in first days of their life up to 77 % of observed time. This behavior is lineary dropping down by increasing age and it is replaced by other behavior such as standing and feeding. In plant feeding phase these behaviors become almost equal and lying takes 27 % of time.
Vliv teploty vzduchu na chování daňků ve farmovém chovu
Tichá, Hana
This diploma thesis examines the influence of air temperature on the behavior of fallow deer in farm kept. The literature review presents fallow deer characterization; it gives an overview of fallow deer management methods and describes the current situation in farming in the Czech Republic. The research part deals with observations of behavioral patterns of fallow deer. Every month in the course of a calendar year, a selected group of farmed fallow deer was observed all day, with special regard to their behavioral patterns concerning grazing, feed intake, standing or lying. Air temperature was measured every time. My research has shown a significant effect of air temperature on the behavior of fallow deer. Grazing was most prevalent in May (52 %), feed intake in January (39 %), lying in December (43 %) and standing in November (31 %). Moreover, spatial preferences of mineral deer-licks were examined in relation to feeding habits. The study has demonstrated that the location of a deer-lick has a considerable impact on its use. Fallow deer prefer significantly (75 %) a deer-lick close to a watering place rather than the deer-lick close to the border of the area. The results of the research were analysed in graphs and statistically evaluated by reference to Pearson's chi-squared test.

Svobodová, Tereza
The diploma thesis deals with the influence of the season on the behavioral symptoms of aberdeen angus cows. Ethological monitoring was carried out on an ecological farm Chadimův mlýn, which is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Monitoring was carried out from April to December 2013. It has been analyzed following behavioral symptoms: feed intake, water intake, stall, physical activity, lying, urination/defecation, sucking and comfortable behavior. By ethological monitoring, graphical and statistical evaluation it was found highly significant effect of the season on feed intake, stall, physical activity, lying and sucking. Inconclusive effect of the season has been detected in water intake, comfortable behavior and urination/defecation. In comparison with behavioral symptoms within days with the highest and lowest average air temperature, there wwas found high difference in the symptoms between standing and lying. Animals devoted most of time to feed intake (47,76 %), lying (22,02 %), stall (20,55 %) and physical activity (6,11 %).
